The Problem: A Building Site With a Completely Blank Canvas
On top of a sloping plot of land in Warwickshire, our clients had their dream home rebuilt. The original bungalow was demolished and they were left with a big mound of mud and a completely blank canvas. The main aspect of their new home had incredible views of Kenilworth Castle. To match their dream home, they wanted an equally stunning garden to enjoy this picturesque scene from.
The land sloped up from the driveway, wrapping its way around and up the backside of the property. This was a challenging site, and careful consideration was needed to connect the patio spaces and neighbouring woodland. The design needed to embody both the contemporary style of the home and their surrounding rural landscape.
Our Solution
Our design team created a plan that including grading out a flat front garden area for the main patio and lawn. This created a safe place for our clients’ grandchildren and dog to happily play.
Grey porcelain paving forms the main patio with a grey tegula block detailing and creating a walkway leading down towards the driveway. Along with the main patio space, we created a private patio outside the bedroom. Perfect for morning coffee and enjoying the breath-taking view. The ideal wake-up call. A cascading water feature creates a focal point within the garden and offers tranquil and relaxing sounds of trickling water.
The Final Result
Around the patio spaces, perennial cottage style planting brings season colour and fragrance. To retain the main slope and forming the woodland bank, retaining sleepers supporting the land and woodland style planting and new trees defined this more relaxed part of the garden.
The design gave this family a simple yet elegant space in which to enjoy their view and beautiful property. This building site was transformed into a beautifully established garden in less than 6 weeks, blending into its stunning rural surroundings. A pleasure for our clients to enjoy with their family, friends, grandchildren and their beloved dog.
