Our Nottinghamshire-based clients have a generous size garden, but the back area of the space was tired, unused and unloved, despite it being the sunniest part of the space. As the main view from the home, they wanted to utilise and modernise this dead zone into a place for entertaining and relaxing with family and friends.
We replaced the tired paving with contemporary, smooth grey porcelain paving allowing us to brighten the area and angular shapes plus modernise the feel. As this is a fairly flat area, we introduced a raised granite look in the flower beds which added depth. Creating height with timber archways and trellis additions helped the garden feel private and secluded.
The original palm tree now feels right at home in this holiday vibe garden. The steel pergola creates pleasant shade in one of the hottest spots of the space, making for a comfortable and enjoyable outdoor dining experience complete with built-in BBQ and kitchen worktops.
As for the relaxing element to the garden, a large lounging area has been designed next to a dedicated hot tub zone complete with a composite decking surface for a luxurious feel underfoot. Perfect for those days where you just want to chill or unwind from a long day at work.
The once-neglected area of their garden is now the most used spot. Feeling like they are on holiday whenever they venture down to the bottom of the garden was the main aim for our clients. This goal was fully achieved — perfect for those chilled weekends, or evenings of entertaining. This transformation not only looks great, but the incredibly low maintenance finish means more time can be spent enjoying. It has become the green oasis of the tranquillity they were longing for.
