A Classic Garden Design for a Home Surrounded by a Country Landscape

Classic garden design for country garden

Our clients, based in Peatling Parva, Leicestershire, wanted a redesign that would re-ignite their rear garden.

Our challenge was to remove all existing weeds, lawn, paving and gravel and prepare groundworks, foundations and drainage for a landscape garden design that included new walling, patios, timbers to retain a stream and a bridge.

Complete Transformation

The first task was to completely transform the terrace platform as you come out of the house, this area had grown tired and needed a full refurbishment.

For the walling, and access ramp we laid concrete foundations to an approximate depth of 300mm to give maximum strength. Marshalite walling and Tegula setts were installed to create a ramp to provide access to the lower tier of the garden. This allowed us to craft a large usable patio on the higher level of the garden.

For the patio space and secondary seating area, we used Indian sandstone paving laid on full mortar beds and grouted using a resin-based grouting compound, which sets solid to prevent weeds growing through the joints of the paving.

An eye-catching bridge was installed to the centre of the garden to add a focal point and interest to the garden design and also to allow for access over the existing stream.
Marshalls Traditional Tegula setts created a pathway leading down the garden and into the secondary, circular feature seating area at the bottom of the garden.

For the newly cut lawn, we used top soil and Elliott’s medallion turf to produce a level and more usable lawn. Top soil and compost were also used to prepare the flowerbeds for a new planting scheme devised by our plant designer.

The Finished Factor

The garden looked amazing on completion and to make sure it stays that way, we’ll make 4 complimentary maintenance visits in the first month to ensure that the garden gets the very best possible start. We also included four lawn care treatments provided by lawn specialists so that the grass stays just as lush and vibrant as when first laid.

Obviously, our clients are delighted with their new outdoor space, they were so happy with our work that they also had our soft landscaping team into complete the planting and really finish the garden off! And by using the highest quality building materials, we can guarantee the garden will stay looking pristine for years to come – with no effort required from our clients.
